We are working to raise additional funds for a Barbara Pym residential room in the new Boundary Building at St Hilda’s College, Oxford, which will open in 2020. You can help us reach our goal by entering to win a Barbara Pym coat.
In 2019 fashion label Boden launched a new coat collection inspired by celebrated, historical women from the arts. The slogan for the 30-piece collection was “Behind every great coat is a great woman.” Each coat was named and styled after a particular woman, including Celtic queen Boudica, mathematician and writer Ada Lovelace, Jane Austen, and (wait for it…) Barbara Pym.
Boden has kindly donated a “Pym” coat, which you see here, for fundraising purposes. The one we have is UK size 14 and the colour is Camel. Some of you will be thinking, “that’s not my size and I’d have preferred Post Box Red.” However, we hope you’ll consider giving it as a present to a friend or relation so we can make good use of Boden’s donation to help perpetuate Barbara’s name at St Hilda’s.
Boden says, “The wool-blend of this sophisticated coat will leave you oblivious to any chills out there. Which means you can get on with looking chic with statement stitching and contrasting colour in your lining and under the collar.”
The coat retails for £180/$270. Size UK 14; colour camel; fabric 50% wool 43% polyester 4% polyamide 2% acrylic 1% viscose; lining 100% polyester; dry clean only; semi-fitted shape, length finishes below knee; side pockets; button fastening at front; top stitch detail.
